Guess what Men of Clarksville?
I just figured out what to get your wife, in-laws AND your parents for Christmas.
Why am I dropping the C-word when it's still 200 degrees outside?
Well, the only catch to easy peasy gift idea is that it does take some forethought. (Except the last option! I’ve even got last-minute solutions for you!)
It's photos. Surprised? Didn't think so.
But what IS surprising is that ALL the important women in your life will lose their minds over how THOUGHTFUL you are. And you really only had to think of one thing…
the best way to gift family photos
THE THREE WAYS YOU CAN PULL THIS OFF:
1. Have a portrait session ALL together: Grandparents included.
Whether Grandma and Grandpa are in town or the entire cousin crew is visiting Clarksville, those rare occasions where everyone is together at the same time are the perfect opportunity to get those big, beautiful, full family portraits with every generation.
I wrote a post all about that a few months ago: Multi-Generational Portrait Sessions
Gift an artist canvas portrait of everyone together and it will hang with pride for decades!
No joke, I have 2 of these booked for this season already and one more got in touch this week!
2. Have a portrait session with just your family. Then, give high quality prints!
My mom is always asking me for up-to-date photos of her grandkids so I'm speaking from experience that this is a sure-fire winner!
First, you’ll have to Book a Family Session of course!
The key with this part is having the session early enough to get your gifts printed and mail them off so they make it under the tree (although, a photographer I know usually just ships them straight to their house so you don't have to! 😉)
Depending on what you’re gifting, receiving your printed artwork could take weeks… especially during peak times like the holidays. Albums, Canvas, and Framed Prints can take several weeks for example, while boxes of smaller prints may take just days.
3. If you already had a Portrait Session this year, gift Wall Art or an Album using the photos.
Still could take some time to ensure on-time delivery but if you’ve already had your portrait session, you’re halfway there!
I encourage all of my clients to live with their portraits as a part of their home to get the most out of them. They bring so much joy! An album to relive the entire session is an incredible gift. Focus on candid and detail images for a more cinematic, story-like feel. Or, have your photographer design it for you!
When it comes to Wall Art, go big or go home. This can be tough to gauge when it comes to sizing so you might want to consult with a photographer that does mockups and formats images for printing all the time. Oh hey- I do that!

4. FOR YOU LAST-MINUTE GUYS: Gift a Family Portrait Session for the following year.
Nothing says, “I forgot about you until the last minute” like a candle or a blanket. You will absolutely melt her heart by giving a gift that feels custom, AND puts your value of family front and center.
Ways you can make it even MORE personal:
-Choose a location that’s special to her for the session (the family home, where you first met, your favorite walking spot, etc).
-Put an empty frame on the wall and let her know that’s where the updated Family Portrait will be hung after the session.
-Pair with a gift card to her favorite boutique so she can get a new dress or outfit for the session!
So what kind of Family Photos are you printing this year, Clarksville?
If you have a personal photograph that is important to you, I’d love to hear about it. There are so many reasons why printing your photographs is worthwhile, but the joy we get from them is universal! Leave a comment with your favorite photo’s story!
