Timing:
These sessions are only 5 minutes long so it is SUPER important that you are on time. Running late means your time slot may be missed altogether and I don't want that!!
Plan to arrive at least 5 minutes early and just wait in the car until your start time.
As a reminder, frazzled parents equals frazzled kids. The more calm and collected you are, the happier your kiddos will be. So, I REALLY encourage you to allow extra time for getting ready and getting to the studio. Keep things as easy-breezy as you can to ensure happy kiddos. 😊
WHAT TO WEAR:
I highly encourage you to let your child(ren) dress themselves or choose to wear one of their favorite things. This is part of the fun of these modern portraits! Your child's personality will really shine this way and you will look back on this age and remember what they loved. I want them to be happy and feel like they can be themselves, not stuck in stiff clothing like school pictures.
PROPS:
If your child loves accessories, I am totally cool with that... jewels, hats and princess tiaras are all welcome!
Feel free to let your child bring one favorite thing whether that be a lovie, beloved toy, favorite book, or something that represents an interest. If soccer = life, then by all means bring a soccer ball!
DISTRACTIONS:
You know your kids best and how they interact with each other. If one will antagonize another, please bring them in one at a time. If they are best friends (even if just for the day lol), I’m ok with the one not being photographed to stay in the studio while it isn’t their turn. Just remember that these are only individual portraits and there will be no sibling shots.
If possible, be prepared to stand behind me and assist with giggles, IF I need you. Most kids respond to me just fine, but sometimes there is a child that needs to see Mom or Dad make an utter fool of themselves to really get them going. You know your child and what works for them, so feel free to stay close or stay hidden accordingly.
AT THE STUDIO:
Should you arrive and need a potty or to change clothes, there is a bathroom in the shared portion of the office space, so just come on in.
To make this as successful as possible please make sure your child is full and not hangry. There is no eating allowed per the studio location owner so leave all snacks, juice, water, etc, in the car please!
If you have a shy child, you may come into the studio space a few minutes early so that they can observe the process and get their bearings. *Please let me know if you plan to do this beforehand so I can prepare accordingly.
