Meet Alyssa. Owner of Palm Trees to Sweet Teas, hand-letterer, and stay at home mom. The military brought Alyssa from sunny California down here to Clarksville, TN(how perfectly adorable is her business' name!?). We met at an event in the Spring and, as our booths were next to each other, began chatting and found we had a lot in common! Both military wives, moms of littles, and, of course, small business owners! We met up over the summer to get a few professional, yet casual headshots for her social media accounts to really bring her personality to the forefront of her business.
Let's get to know her and Palm Trees to Sweet Teas a little better, shall we?
ME: Describe what you do in one sentence.
ALYSSA: "I hand-letter digital files to be printed/framed for decor, and hand-letter custom files for other small businesses that are used to make t-shirts, mugs, etc."
ME: You clearly have a passion for what you do! What first ignited that passion?
ALYSSA: "I definitely do have a passion for lettering. It started when I was in High School, for some reason I liked to draw letters and started to make birthday cards for EVERYONE. I changed my art major in college because I didn't think it would go anywhere. When I became a stay at home mom, I broke out an old sketch pad and realized lettering is totally a thing now!"
ME: I know first-hand working from home with a little one is TOUGH. What are your top tips to maintain that work/life balance?
ALYSSA: "It is tough balancing work life and Mom life. I am a planner, so I game plan what all I want to get done in a day. When it's naptime, I either use that time to be a creative, or I sometimes use that time to take a nap myself. I have noticed that when I take time to relax, I produce better content than when I'm running on empty. I always take time to play with my kiddo so she has that attention so that when I need to finish a project, she's in a better mood. And I'm never afraid to keep those Cheerios comin' haha!"
ME: What does your perfect family Saturday include?
ALYSSA: "My perfect family Saturday would include hot coffee, homemade breakfast, and lounging in our camping chairs in the garage while dinner cooks in the crockpot. Relaxing the day away while snacking all day."
